Three bat boxes to be fitted to new homes on site of former pub

Bat boxes will be fitted to three homes being built on the site of a former pub in Cwmbran

In July 2021 Torfaen Council gave for nine homes to be built off Greenhilll Road. The site used to be the Bottom Bridge pub and its car park.

One of the conditions at the time was for the developer to provide details of bat boxes that would be included.

That information and plans were presented to the council and this week it was ‘discharged’, meaning that the council was satisfied with the developer’s proposal.

The council’s ecology officer said: “I can confirm the proposed biodiversity enhancements are acceptable. I have no further comments to make.”

Henstaff Construction is building six one-bedroom flats and three two-bedroom houses for Melin Homes. The homes will all be for rent.
