Thistle Court Care Home in Ty Canol welcomed residents, families and neighbours for its annual Christmas Market during December.

Staff said it was the biggest and most successful the home has ever held. The festive event brought together stalls from local small businesses, including Mark’s Gifts, Bald Man 3D Prints and Shane’s Gifts, alongside handmade items made within the home.

The freshly baked Christmas cupcakes from Head Chef Claire sold quickly, and hot chocolate was available throughout the afternoon.

Residents played a central role in the celebrations. They joined in Christmas‑themed ball games and card games, and cheered on competitions that ran throughout the day. The Christmas raffle, the largest Thistle Court has ever organised, was boosted by generous donations from local businesses.

A visit from Dora the Explorer, an anxiety‑therapy puppy belonging to one of the stallholders, added extra smiles and moments of calm.

Home manager Sarah Butfield and administrator Tracey Baker were among those arriving in Christmas fancy dress. Sarah, also a local author, signed copies of her memoirs for visitors.

The event raised £311 for the Thistle Court Community Fund, which supports activities and experiences for residents.
