Roger Morgan is the Conservative’s candidate in this Thursday’s by-election for a Torfaen County Borough Council seat in the Llantarnam Ward of Cwmbran.

Cwmbran Life offered candidates the chance to write a piece about why residents should vote for them.

Roger wrote: “I am standing for election as the Conservative Party Candidate in Llantarnam to offer voters choice. I believe in clarity and unity of purpose not group speak or divisiveness.  Local government spending needs to give value for money, and this means proper consideration of what residents require, local matters require local solutions. As a local councillor I adopt a common sense and questioning approach to Council activities and would continue to show this diligence if elected to the County Council.

“Llantarnam needs a strong local voice, someone who listens, asks the right questions and focuses on issues that matter to you: potholes, clean and safe neighbourhoods, reliable public transport and high-quality education. To achieve this there needs to be a cross section of views around the council table allowing democracy to flourish.

“Having lived and worked in Torfaen for around 40 years, I have been both employed and self-employed. This has taught me the value of self-sufficiency and hard work.  Throughout that time, I have been, and remain, a Conservative. Nationally, I support Kemi Badenoch, who I believe offers clear and sensible approaches to difficult issues.

“Please use your vote on Thursday 2nd July and vote for a candidate who will listen to your concerns, treat everyone fairly and equally, and bring my local knowledge and work experience to my actions for you.

“Thank you for taking the time to read this message.”
