One of the UK’s largest homebuilders has apologised to residents on the Edlogan Wharf estate in Cwmbran for allowing a litter bin to go unemptied.
Taylor Wimpey is responsible for emptying the bin it installed on Clôs Glas y Dorlan, near the children’s park. It had a contract with Torfaen Council to do the work, but that expired in early September, and the housebuilder chose not to renew it.
A resident told Cwmbran Life the situation was a “shambles” and the “smells were horrendous”.
She said dog walkers had continued to stuff their pet’s poo bags into the bin, leaving it “overflowing.”
A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey told Cwmbran Life: “We recently transitioned our bin collection service from Torfaen Council to a new provider. Unfortunately, there was an unexpected delay during the handover whilst we completed the necessary administrative and financial arrangements to bring the new supplier on board.
“The bin will be emptied as soon as possible and on a fortnightly basis thereafter.
“We apologise for the impact this has had on the community.”
