Six candidates stand for vacant council seat in Llantarnam

Residents in Llantarnam will have a choice of six candidates when they vote for a new county councillor on Thursday 2 February 2023.

The election is taking place following the resignation of Councillor Nick Jones in November 2022, six months after being elected in May’s local government elections.

The six Llantarnam candidates are:

  • David Bolton- Welsh Labour
  • Miles Cook- Welsh Liberal Democrats
  • Philip Davies- Green Party
  • Jason O’Connell- Independent
  • Stephen Senior- Welsh Conservative Party
  • Matthew Woolfall-Jones- Plaid Cymru- The Party of Wales

Three polling stations

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. Residents who are eligible to vote will receive a polling card with information on what polling station is for their area.

  • Llantarnam Church Hall
  • Court Farm and Oakfield Community Centre
  • St Gabriel’s Memorial Church Hall

Other ways to vote

  • Postal vote applications must be made to the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Pontypool, Torfaen NP4 6YB by 5pm on Wednesday 18 January 2023.
  • Applications to vote by proxy must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre,
    Pontypool NP4 6YB by 5pm. on Wednesday 25 January 2023.
  • Applications to vote by proxy on grounds of physical incapacity, where that physical incapacity occurred after 5 pm. on Wednesday 25 January 2023 must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Pontypool NP4 6YB by 5pm on Thursday 2 February 2023
