Santander has announced that its branch in Cwmbran town centre will permanently close on Wednesday 13 May 2026.
The bank says it is “not leaving” the area entirely, with a community banker set to visit the town once a week. The location, date and time for these sessions will be confirmed closer to the closure.
Customers are being directed to alternative services, including the nearest full Santander branch in Newport city centre (20-21 Commercial Street), which offers counter services, ATMs and in‑branch support. Everyday banking such as paying in cash, withdrawing money and depositing cheques can also be carried out at the Post Office on The Mall (inside TGJones, formerley WHSmith).
The nearest free ATM is located at Lloyds Bank, Gwent Square, and customers are encouraged to use online and mobile banking for 24/7 account management.
