This week’s half term playschemes across Torfaen have been running successfully despite the awful weather. These photos show that young people are enjoying themselves during their week off school.

Over the week at least 500 children and young people will take part in free play activities. Eighty volunteers have also been giving up their free time to work alongside paid workers to ensure all children were engaged in a safe and fun environment.

Over 60 children with disabilities attended the sessions across Torfaen providing respite to parents and carers.

The free sessions saw children take part in a range of arts, crafts and music workshops, sports activities and group games.

Healthy free snacks are provided at all sites and are funded by  Torfaen Community Councils and Welsh Government

Cllr Mandy Owen, Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: “Its great to see young people give up their free time to enable children to play.”

Julian Davenne, Torfaen Play Service Manager, said: “The free healthy snacks have gone down a storm!”
