Pupils at Llanyrafon Primary School spent a day running their own businesses and made a profit of over £1,800.
Thanks to Billy and Max, two year six pupils, for writing this article for Cwmbran Life about the event. The pair wrote:
“On Friday 24th November, Llanyrafon Primary School held a Business Enterprise Fayre, which proved to be very successful. The school decided to adopt a Christmas theme, with each year group setting up their own business, choosing a product to sell or offering a service or game to play.
“Each year group embarked on some very exciting tasks. They had the opportunity to apply for a job in one of the business departments, collect market research, calculate finances and advertise and make their products.
“Year 6 sold sock snowmen, hot chocolates and mocktails.
“Year 5 sold Christmas tree decorations that were hand drawn on discs cut from logs cut down from the school tree. They also offered ‘guess the number of candy canes in the jar’.
“Year 4 sold cookies and offered ‘guess the name of the teddy bear’ challenge
“Year 3 sold sparkly, glistening snow globes
Year 2 sold wrapping paper and cool crackers that fired off a large amount of confetti.
“Year 1 sold tasty chocolate bars that made everyone filled with enthusiasm and joy.
“Reception sold reindeer hot chocolate cones which looked like Rudolph.
“On the day of the sale, the school was buzzing. Each year group made a huge effort decorating their stalls using their Christmas spirit and the children put their sales patter to good use.
“We were absolutely amazed to have made a total profit of £1,854.22 and were so grateful to the local community and parents for their support in attending the event. We would also like to extend our gratitude to The Boat House cafe at The Boating Lake and Douglas Willis butchers for their support too.”
