Drivers who park their cars in the new EV bays in Cwmbran town centre without using the chargers face being fined.
PoGo Charge is the company that recently installed the rapid chargers in the car park on Glyndwr Road, opposite Kaspa’s Cwmbran.
A recent post on Cwmbran Life’s Facebook page attracted comments from EV owners frustrated that they had checked PoGo’s website for availability but found non-EV cars using them when they arrived to charge their vehicles.

Cwmbran Life contacted PoGo Charge to ask what could happen if non-EV vehicles used the bays to park.
A spokesperson for PoGo Charge said: “Thank you for reaching out regarding the situation at our Cwmbran charging location.
“We are aware that some of our charging bays have recently been obstructed by non-EV vehicles, which has unfortunately prevented EV drivers from being able to charge.
“Ensuring reliable access to our chargers is vital for driver confidence and the continued adoption of electric vehicles, which we are fully committed to supporting.
“To address the issue, we are already taking the following steps:
- Implementation of ANPR and Signage: We are working closely with the necessary parties to install ANPR cameras and clear signage at the site. Once operational, any vehicle blocking a charging bay without actively charging will receive a Parking Charge Notice (PCN).
- Temporary On-Site Management: As an interim measure, we will be putting a manned PCN solution in place to ensure charging bays remain available for EV drivers while the ANPR system is reviewed and installed.
“We take the accessibility of our charging locations very seriously and are acting swiftly to ensure that this site, and all our locations, continue to deliver the reliable charging experience our customers expect.”
