Planning permission has been given to change a former estate agent office in Cwmbran town centre into a hair, beauty and nail salon.

L & C Investments Limited applied to Torfaen Council for a change of use for 5 Monmouth Walk from a ‘Class A2 estate agents to hair, beauty and nail salon’. This is the empty shop next door to the the fancy dress shop.

The application was approved this week with a condition that customers are not allowed in the shop outside the hours of 9am-5pm from Monday to Sunday.

The council report said: “Whilst there are other units operating in the town centre as hair and beauty salons, this application is not considered to overly saturate this A1 use in the town centre. As the supplied design and access statement suggests, the change of use replaces one non-retail use with another, and as such there is no net loss of shopping facilities to undermine the viability of the town centre.”
