🥳 Big Week coming up: Yes, it’s the Cwmbran Big Event

Go and check the calendar on your fridge. If you haven’t got one, go out and buy one! What does it say you’re doing this weekend? I’ll tell you. It’s the Cwmbran Big Event on Saturday 8 June in and around the grounds at Cwmbran Boating Lake.

I missed last year’s event as I had a wedding in Usk. But I managed to get down there at around 9am for a quick video of things being set up.

I was still there at 10.30am just chatting and catching up with people I hadn’t seen in a while. This meant we made the wedding by the skin of our teeth!

At 9am, you get to see the work that goes on to pull off a community event like this. Dozens and dozens of people hurry around the site doing last minute jobs to make a day to remember for the 1000s of people who attend from 11.45am.

It’s easy to say ‘there’s nothing to do’ and complain. Get out and show your support for a big day on your doorstep. It’s fresh air, a bit of exercise and lots of free entertainment.

The main stage will showcase 11 acts throughout the afternoon. It will them a confidence boost to perforn at an event of this size

🐶 Why not enter your pooch for the dog show at 2pm? And make sure you don’t miss the water rescue display on Cwmbran Boating Lake by volunteers from the Severn Area Rescue Association from 2.30pm.

Cwmbran Big Event is organised by Cwmbran Community Council who got sponsorship and support from The Cwmbran Trust, Sidoli’s, Cwmbran Boat House Café and Croesyceiliog & Llanyrafon Community Council.
