A group of artists have moved their gallery to a new home in Cwmbran

The South Wales Artist Cooperative was based in the hall at St Gabriel’s Church in Old Cwmbran. The cooperative is a group of artists who decided to work together to find and open a venue to showcase their art. This week they open with an exhibition at the Forgehamer Social Club in Cwmbran, their new base. It’s on Saturday 14 October from 3pm to 6pm and guests can enjoy refreshments and nibbles while enjoying the display and chatting to the artists. Following the launch, they are holding what is being billed as ‘The Arty Party’ from 6pm to 9pm with live poetry and music.

Richard Davies, from the cooperative, told Cwmbran Life  last year it was difficult to find places to display artwork and ones that do often charge high commission rates on sales and this makes it prohibitive for struggling artists. These were some of the reasons why the group formed a cooperative.

The Forgehammer Club’s address is Greenhill Rd, Cwmbran NP44 3DQ.
