New community hub in the St Dials Ward of Cwmbran

A new community hub has been set up in the St Dials Ward of Cwmbran.

Cllr Elizabeth Haynes and Cllr Catherine Bonera, the two councillors for St Dials Ward, are trialing the community event with the Salvation Army at their hall on Wesley Street in Old Cwmbran.

The event will bring people together to enjoy:

  • A cuppa and crumpet
  • Tin on the Table (donate food or pick up a tin)
  • Pre-loved clothing rail
  • Stocks of recycling boxes and dog poo bags

Cllr Bonera said: “We are thrilled to be working alongside the Salvation Army to help and support our community further. They already do tremendous work, and hope that the Hub will add to that.

“Finding a suitable venue was our biggest hurdle, we wanted as many people, especially those living in St Dials Ward, to be able to access the hub and its facilities. We needed somewhere on a bus route, that had a kitchen, and could accommodate our vision. We feel that the Hub will make a great add-on to what Is already available at The Salvation Army.”

When is the next St Dials community hub?

It’s on Thursday 1 September 2022 from 10am to 11.45am at the Salvation Army Hall on Wesley Street in Old Cwmbran. The councillors will trial it for a few months and see if there is a demand for it to be more regular.
