Community councillors in Henllys have agreed to buy a second defibrillator for the village.

The village hall has one of the life-saving devices fixed to its wall that can be accessed 24-hours a day following a call to 999. Now councillors want to provide a second kit to provide more cover across the area.

The site is likely on the wall of the football changing rooms in Birch Grove. Councillors have been given a cost of £1,365 + VAT. Cllr Ron Burnett was concerned it may be a bit of the way and “too secluded”. Cllr Valerie Waters said: “We’ve only got one defibrillator in the whole of Henllys. We need to find another site.” She said having one down there wasn’t just about being near the football pitch, it was next to Henllys Nature Reserve.

Cllr Jonathan Lewis said the car park was regularly used and there were signs saying the area was protected by CCTV. Cllr Lawrence Smith-Higgins said it would be a suitable location, being close to a large number of residents and visitors who enjoy using the nature reserve.
