A cafe in Cwmbran run by a mum and daughter has just celebrated its fifth birthday.

Morgan’s Cafe in Maendy Way Shops was taken over in 2018 by Elouise Dummett, and Ria, her daughter. The pair said they had been “overwhelmed with support from their customers and amazing staff”.

Ria left school in 2018 and went straight into the food business full-time. She grew up and gained experience working in her parents’ business, Pontnewydd Fish Bar, which they have run for 18 years.

Ria said:  “Having this opportunity to take on a business has brought me on leaps and bounds. I am forever grateful for my mum and dad believing in me at 16-years-old to run this successful business as a now 21-year-old. It’s never always easy but it’s always worth it in the end. I hope to own several locations one day.”

Morgan’s Cafe is named after Ria’s older brother who she described as “our chief taster and biggest critic”. The mum and daughter play netball together for the Cwmbran-based Exiles Club, and sponsor the club.

Morgan’s Cafe is open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm, and sells a variety of food including breakfasts, baguettes, jacket potatoes, omelettes, burgers, pasta salads, and daily homemade specials.
