People who live or have lived on the Byways estate in Greenmeadow are being asked to take part in a project to record the history of the area.

Ancient Cwmbran Society and the Costar Partnership want to record people talking about the estate and copy any photos they have.

Three sessions have been set up in the well-known local landmark the Threepenny Bit. Pop along on any of these days to chat and share your memories:

Saturday 20 July 1pm – 4pm

Saturday 27 July 1pm – 4pm.

Saturday 3 August 1pm – 4pm

The exhibition of all the stories will be held on Saturday 10 August from 6pm to 10pm.

Richard Davies, from the Ancient Cwmbran Society, said: “We have leafleted the whole Byways estate but there will be people who lived there in the past but that have since moved to other areas and we want to contact them as well. We need to run a little campaign to ask the wider public in Cwmbran did they or do they live on the estate, from the early 1960’s to the present day. One of the problems with this is people may not recognise the name Byways it isn’t always called that by residents, sometimes it’s referred to as the Pantry Shop estate or Little Jerusalem.”

Badgers Mede, Clyffes, Courtner, Deerbrook, Earlsmede, Fernbank, Gordings, Holmdale, Littledene, Lyncroft, Manor Gate, Marloes Path, Maybury House, Mere Path, Nether Court, Penny Fields, Rushbrook, The Courtlands, Twinings.
