A Cwmbran food business is giving away food to help raise money for Mind, the mental health charity.

Tin Kin Kitchen is also handing out food at its kitchen in Newport. Situated just behind What! Stores on Llantarnam Road, staff will hand out free cheeseburgers and fries; at the same time, staff at Tin Can Kitchen Newport will hand out free 9” margherita and vegan margherita pizzas. Both giveaways will run from midday until 4pm on Tuesday 10 October.

The business owners are asking each customer to make a small cash donation to Mind when they collect their food. Tin Can Kitcehn co-owner Barry Fallon said: “Here we are, just over two years since our last fundraiser, and what better day to raise awareness than on World Mental Health Day. Life can be tough, what with everything that’s going on at the moment, so the services provided by charities such as Mind Newport and Mind Torfaen are as important as ever.”

The business has just launched a student discount scheme, giving university and college students a 25% online discount. Tin Can Kitchen co-owner Jordan Phillips said: “With more and more young people – especially college and University students – experiencing mental health issues, we like to help out and give something back where we can.
