Shoppers at Cwmbran’s Morrisons helped the store become one of the first in the chain’s UK branches to raise over £10,000 for an end‑of‑life charity.
The supermarket teamed up with Marie Curie in November 2024 with an aim of raising £15 million by October 2027. Donations help improve end‑of‑life care in local communities by enhancing hospice services and providing more dedicated Marie Curie nurses.
Cwmbran’s total now stands at £13,589. Torfaen MP Nick Thomas‑Symonds recently visited the store to congratulate staff and customers on their fundraising.
He said: “This incredible amount raised highlights the dedication of Morrisons colleagues, the support of Marie Curie volunteers, and the generosity of customers across Torfaen.
The funding will go a long way in improving end-of-life care, and funding Marie Curie nurses who provide crucial support for families and carers facing the most difficult and painful circumstances.”
