The youth team of Cwmbran RFC raised £325 for their tour to Spain next year with this unusual fundraiser. Players sold 350 numbered boxes on sheets of paper for £1 a go.

That was the easy bit. The next step was finding someone who owned a hamster. A former Cwmbran RFC captain, John Hopkins, offered the use of his pet gerbil after they failed to get a hampster.

Ronnie then became the star of  the show and was put on top of the sheets of numbered boxes. Press ‘play’ to watch what Ronnie had to do to help the team find a winner….

The winner was Chris Thomas and he won £25.
