A Cwmbran teenager achieved a lifelong ambition today to referee a wrestling match.

Tilly Gordon, 15, a pupil at Cwmbran High School, wants to be a professional wrestler but she can’t compete until she’s 16. She trains at Exposure Wrestling Academy.

The club organised a show at Pontnewydd Workingmen’s Club today.

Sarah Horton, Tilly’s mum, said: “She refereed two matches. She was a little nervous but proper excited and said she felt really confident once she started. And it’s all she’s talked about since getting home this evening.

“She’s been dancing since she was tiny and gave it up this year to concentrate on wrestling. I couldn’t be more proud of her. All she’s ever wanted to do since I can remember is be a professional wrestler. Today was the first step and a great referee she was.”
