Going to London to celebrate your 18th birthday isn’t unusual but for one Cwmbran teenager something a bit more quirky is on the cards.

Luke Bidder, aged 17, from Upper Cwmbran has been singing with Only Boys Aloud since they were formed and turns 18 on 10 July.

But instead of looking at the capital’s sigts he will be joining his friends in the top choir to sing at Buckingham Palace’s Coronation Festival.

The website says that on 11 July, the day after he turns 18: “There will be a Royal preview on Thursday 11 July, for invited guests, including Members of the Royal Family…”

Luke said the highlights of his time with Only Boys Aloud have been Britain’s Got Talent and the Ryder Cup. He said he will celebrating his birthday when he gets back from London.

Happy birthday Luke. He is one of several Cwmbran boys who are enjoying success with the choir.

He has just finished a BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care from Cross Keys college
