The Mount Pleasant in Old Cwmbran is setting up a ‘thrift’ club so pub-goers can save money for next Christmas.

The first meeting is on Saturday 5 January from 12pm to 2pm. Members have to pay in a minimum of £5 a week. There will be a weekly raffle to win a prize and the money collected will go into the savings account as a bonus for all members at the end of the year.

Members will get their payout on Saturday 7 December.

Anneliese, the landlady, is looking for committee members to help run the club.
