Cwmbran Photographic Society is launching an exhibition of its members’ favourite photos this week.
The club meets every Wednesday and new members are welcome to join to improve their camera skills and learn more about the art.
The latest display of photographs will be on display in Cwmbran Community Council’s office from Thursday 10 July. Members of the public are welcome to pop in and view the images, which include portrait, landscape, street photography, and wildlife.
The display will be up until a date yet to be confirmed in August.
‘Social calendar’
Kevin Morgan, from Cwmbran Photographic Society, said: “We have a very social calendar, a mixture of presentations where we get other people from other clubs or other photographers come in and do their presentations and show us what they like to photograph.
“We have members’ evenings where we get the chance to show our own work and do some ‘show and tells’.
“At least once a month, we have an internal club competition, which we all enter up to three prints and up to three digital images.”
They invite judges from the Welsh Photographic Federation to comment on their work.
They go on regular trips to test their skills in new locations. The next one will see members meet and take their cameras to Slimbridge Wetland Centre in Gloucestershire.
Kevin said the exhibition is a “mixture of pictures, a mixture of genres, basically the authors’ favourite pictures that they’ve taken to date.”
“We all challenge ourselves to try and improve and better ourselves,” he added.
