Unaccompanied under‑18s have been banned from sitting inside McDonald’s in Cwmbran after 5pm.

The food chain told Cwmbran Life the decision “was not taken lightly.”

It means anyone under 18 will only be allowed to eat inside the restaurant on North Walk after 5pm if they are with an adult, until further notice.

Young people on their own can still order through the McDonald’s app and will be allowed inside briefly to collect their food before being asked to leave.

The new rule was brought in last weekend.

A McDonald’s spokesperson told Cwmbran Life: “The safety and security of our people and customers is our utmost priority, and our Cwmbran restaurant has introduced various measures to help mitigate the challenges of anti-social behaviour affecting the wider area.

“This decision was not taken lightly, and the team continues to work closely with the Police and other local businesses to understand how they can be part of the solution.”
