Cwmbran High School hosted a three-day Rugby X festival last week that saw 200 pupils from nine schools take part.
The school entered a year nine girls’ team, and boys’ teams from year seven and year eight.
Rugby X is a modified 5-a-side game of rugby.
Matthew Sullivan, the school’s Welsh Rugby Union officer, said he “couldn’t be prouder of the pupils’ efforts.”
- The year nine girls lost in the plate final to Croesceiliog School
- The year seven boys lost in the plate final.
- Both boys’ year eight teams reached the semi-finals, with one team losing to the final winners, Heolddu.

These are the “amazing” young rugby leaders, all pupils at Cwmbran High School (CHS), who helped run the tournament.
Mr Sullivan said: “It would not have been possible without these amazing rugby leaders supporting me. Proud of you gents.”
The six students were:
- Year nine: Jack Taylor, Rudi Childs, Oliver McKnight and Oliver Jarman
- Year ten: Charlie Wason-Burlow and Zac Hoare
