Winston at Cwmbran Boating Lake

A Cwmbran family did the loveliest thing for the last day of their beloved dog’s life.

Winston, a 14-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, had to be put to sleep on New Year’s Eve afternoon.

He was taken on a tour of his treasured places in the town in a pram with a sign saying: “Today is my last day 🌈 Please feel free to say hello. My humans have treats you can give me. Winston xxx.”

Kayla Pearce told Cwmbran Life: “We took him to the boating lake, one of his favourite ever places, where he had a happy meal by the cafe.”

They then took him to Cwmbran’s Pets at Home store.

Kayla said: “So many people stopped to say hello and take time to hear about him. Some people cried. It was a beautiful way to honour his life. He’s been my constant all through my teenage years up to my adult life. I really couldn’t have done life without him.”

After their special day out, they returned home, and a vet came around to put him to sleep.
