A Cwmbran business set up in 1981 has celebrated its 40th birthday.

Crossford Oil & Tool Supplies was started by Jennifer and Richard Hurford. Richard passed away in 2016. Two of their three children, Mark and Georgina, run the company and Jennifer remains as a director.

Mark said: “My parents started the business in 1981. It’s always been in Cwmbran, always on Springvale but we have been in various units as we have grown.

“Three years ago we moved to new premises, with a bigger showroom. Having a bigger showroom has seen the business excel as we can show more of our range.

“People can see the products working and how they are used. Seeing a tool being used is much better.

“We have companies that dealt with my dad in the early days and say, ‘I remember when your dad had this little unit and your mum was doing the deliveries’.

“There is a lot of loyalty because we provide a good service. We pride ourselves on good stock, our level of service and efficiency.”

On September 10 the business is looking forward to holding its annual trade show outside on their forecourt. Staff from the major tool brands bring their event stands and their latest tools for customers to try out. The 2020 show was cancelled because of covid restrictions.
