Charlotte Cameron has been selected to represent Wales in dressage – and many readers will recognise her from her Sunday shifts at Costa Coffee in Cwmbran town centre.
During the week, she works in customer complaints for Lloyds.
She joked during our chat that her weekend job is purely to keep her horses in the “manner they’ve become accustomed to.”
Charlotte will compete for Wales on King, her “spicy chestnut” whose official name is Dylasau Brenin Hedd. She explained: “It translates to King of Peace, but he’s more fondly known as the Princess of Drama.”
The 38‑year‑old began riding at four and owned her first horse at 14. She bought King when he was 11 – he’s now 18 – and says it has long been her “goal” to ride for Wales.
Last year, the pair took part in a touring dressage event raising money for Cancer Research UK, performing under lights, mirrors and music.

Her embroidered Team Wales jumper arrived two weeks ago. Charlotte also runs a small business, @brenins_browbands, and has made browbands for all 16 horses on the Wales team.
The 2026 Senior Inter Regionals, due to take place last week in Hampshire, were postponed because of an outbreak of equine flu. Organisers are now working on a new date – and possibly a new location.
