Bron Afon Community Housing has announced that Catherine Love will take over as its new chief executive.
She first joined the organisation in 2019 as director of customer experience and became executive director of operations and deputy chief executive in 2023.
Her appointment comes as current chief executive Alan Brunt prepares to retire in January 2026.
With more than a decade in senior leadership roles and experience across housing, customer service, marketing and communications, Ms Love brings a wide range of knowledge to the role.
Her appointment followed a recruitment process involving board members, colleagues and customers.
Craig Nowell, chair of Bron Afon’s Board, said: “I’m delighted that Catherine has been appointed as the next CEO at Bron Afon. We have conducted a robust recruitment process in the months since Alan Brunt confirmed his intention to retire next year.
‘Innovative’
“Catherine has shown innovative and thoughtful leadership since joining Bron Afon as director of customer experience. Her focus is on what matters most, our customers and communities. The selection panel unanimously agreed that Catherine’s passion for, and knowledge of the Welsh housing sector, our customers and communities, gave the Board confidence that she can build on Bron Afon’s success and provide the necessary transformation leadership to focus on and deliver our ambitions.”
Alan Brunt, outgoing CEO, added: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Catherine, since she started at Bron Afon. She is a valued member of our senior leadership team and I’ve seen firsthand her passion for our customers, communities and colleagues.
“Catherine’s appointment is a moment of real pride for us all. It speaks to the strength of talent we grow from within and to the trust we place in our leadership to deliver for our customers and colleagues. I know Catherine will be key in delivering Bron Afon’s plans to improve customer experience, strengthen communities, and build a positive culture across the organisation.”
Build new homes
Catherine Love said: “It is an honour to be appointed chief executive of Bron Afon at this exciting time. Our organisation was created by the community for the community, and that spirit still drives everything we do.
“My focus is to deliver our ambition to build new homes and excellent services for our customers. I am excited to continue to work with Bron Afon’s fantastic teams and partners to strengthen customer trust and ensure the voices of the people we serve shape the decisions we make every day. I am committed to making a real difference to people’s lives and helping communities thrive”.
Catherine will begin her new role on 2 February 2026.
