Alfie was asked to answer this question- You should vote for me in the Pontnewynydd and Snatchwood election because– and this is his answer.

I’m Alfie Best.

I am a carer and a student. I live locally and have lived in the county all my life. Last year during lockdown I began working in a care home. I enjoy working in care as I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. When I’m not working or studying, I’m supporting Wales in football and rugby or going surfing with my two brothers.

I’ve seen first hand just what an impact a good councillor can have on the area s/he represents, and I want to work with local residents to make sure we achieve this in Pontnewynydd & Snatchwood. Along with my fellow Labour candidate Nick Simons, I’m asking for your two votes in this election because we’re committed to working hard for our area and always being there if and when you need us.

I’ve lived in Torfaen my whole life and want to continue the work of the council, working hard to keep our vital public services running and supporting our residents in these difficult times.

Whilst out knocking on doors or speaking to people, cost of living is by far your biggest concern. With a Labour council working for Torfaen we’ll give everyone a right to food, expand free school meals and continue support for gas and electricity bills for those that need it. We don’t want anyone to have to choose between cooking or putting the heating on.

This crisis is worsening and a Labour council is one committed to doing everything in its power to support those struggling.

If elected, I’ll support planned investments to improve roads and towns. More locally, reducing speeding on St. Luke’s and Snatchwood Road, ensuring potholes are dealt with, and making walkways safe is something myself and Nick will be working hard for.

I am also a strong supporter of the plans to build a 4G pitch in the north of Torfaen and will make sure the pitch in Cwmffrwdoer and the pitch in Pontnewynydd are consulted for this plan.

I am looking forward to working hard for Pontnewynydd & Snatchwood and being a voice for the people who live here. If you want a stronger, fairer and cleaner Torfaen, use your two votes for Alfie Best and Nick Simons.
