A Cwmbran couple have opened an independent opticians in the town centre. Craig and Farrah Chilton are co-owners of Cwmbran Eyecare on The Parade.
The pair welcomed customers to their store for the first time yesterday. Craig said they chose the town centre due to its “community feel”.
Farrah told Cwmbran Life: “We’re from Cwmbran, we live in Ty Canol. It’s been hard work getting it ready, but we’ve had help from a lot of people.
“I’ve lived in Cwmbran since I was four, so I know the area really well. Everybody has been really friendly. Craig next door in Travel House, he’s been really welcoming. We’ve had people from the butchers come in and visit us, so yes, everybody has been nice to be fair.
“It’s a nice community feel. There’s also a buzz, there’s also an atmosphere, and I feel that in Cwmbran as well there’s always something happening and then it’s always advertised really well through community groups.
“We want people to feel comfortable to come in, even if they just want a chat. There’s no rush. You can take your time or go as quickly as you like. We’ve got that freedom because we’re not governed by a head office. We can advise things and recommend things because they’re what’s going to be best for people.”
Cwmbran Eyecare is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and from 10.30am to 3pm on Sunday.
