Delicious Dee performing at Le Pub in Newport

Delicious Dee has played on street corners, open mics, pubs and clubs, and last Friday had his first gig in Newport’s iconic music venue Le Pub.

Following the performance, Dee said: “I don’t even know how to start. I’m overwhelmed with every emotion, and I’m just so grateful.

“This is the first chance that I’ve had to be on a proper stage and play all of my own stuff. I have spent so long busking on the street, singing covers, playing in pubs, and I’ve just been dreaming about this moment.”

Delicious Dee took to the stage as part of the National Lottery’s ‘Everywhere At Once Festival’ which was put on to celebrate the most exciting emerging talent across the UK on what would have been the Glastonbury festival weekend.

Dee said: “There were moments throughout the set where I was just looking out at everyone, and it just hit me, this is the moment that I’ve been thinking about for so long, and it’s finally here.

“More than anything else, I’m just honoured, grateful, so, so filled with love, and I really wouldn’t be here without everyone else’s support, allowing me to do this. Giving me the space to do this.”

The busker will be a familiar face for those who shop in Cwmbran’s town centre, as he performs a variety of covers and original songs whilst simultaneously live looping vocals and guitar.

The festival gig allowed Dee to perform multiple original songs, some also performed live for the first time.

His performance went down well with the Newport crowd. About 30 minutes after finishing his Le Pub set, he walked out of the venue to be greeted with a round of applause by a crowd of people sitting outside on the warm evening.

‘Off My Mind’

Dee added: “I think my favourite song is ‘Off my mind’, currently, all the versions that are out aren’t the most up-to-date versions. So, seeing it live is the only way to see and hear it, how I want it to be now.

“You can see the progression of me as a musician. I see it as the journey that I’ve been on to learn how to be a better musician and learn how to express myself more musically.”

The musician’s style would best be described as alternative hip hop, but he often covers a variety of different genres.

Dee told Cwmbran Life his style is: “Just me, it’s my style.”

You can see Delicious Dee performing around the area and beyond. His upcoming gigs can be found on his social media channels, including Instagram and Facebook.
