A Cwmbran busker “can’t wait” to play his first ticketed show at Newport’s iconic Le Pub venue this weekend.
Singer-songwriter Delicious Dee is a familiar face to Cwmbran town centre shoppers.
He’s one of four acts on the line-up on Friday 26 June. Le Pub is one of over 400 venues holding a National Lottery ‘Everywhere At Once Festival.’
Dee said: “To say I’m excited would be a huge understatement, but beyond anything, I’m so unbelievably grateful for the opportunity.
“Since I first moved here and began my music career from busking on the streets, Le Pub has been the one milestone venue that I’ve wanted to perform in, and to finally have the chance still feels surreal.”
He told Cwmbran Life: “I’m also excited to bring my live-looping set to the Le Pub audience for the first time and connect with people who may never have seen what I do before and hear original music they’ve definitely never heard before. It’s shaping up to be a really special night, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
Delicious Dee began his music career over four years ago, since then he has performed on street corners across the UK, done open mics, pubs, community events, and festivals.
Dee told Cwmbran Life: “To now be stepping onto a stage that has hosted so many great artists is both humbling and rewarding. I think it’s one of those moments that makes you stop and appreciate how far you’ve come.”
Grassroots venues
The National Lottery ‘Everywhere At Once Festival’ is taking place over what would have been the Glastonbury Festival weekend. It aims to promote local music, support grassroots venues, host major artists and showcase incredible emerging artists.
Delicious Dee said: “More than anything, I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with Ernie Emmanuel, the other local bands, and a lot of musical friends I’ve met over the years, and being able to share all that in a room full of both strangers and friends alike.
“One of the best things about being part of a local music scene is the sense of community, and this show feels like a celebration of that.”
