A Dungeons & Dragons night in Cwmbran raised over £500 for Cancer Research UK.
Sophie Addyman organised the event as part of her team’s fundraising efforts for the Pontypool Relay for Life taking place in Pontypool Park on Saturday 4 July.
She said: “My friends and I play Dungeons & Dragons regularly and thought organising a D&D evening would be a fun way to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We had such a fantastic response that the tickets sold out in one week of going live.
“We also ran a raffle with some wonderful prizes donated by local businesses such as Nerd Nook Cwmbran, Hive Mind Mead in Caldicot and Chance & Counters Board Game Cafe in Cardiff.
“In total, we raised £561.51 for Cancer Research UK from our D&D night but we still have a long way to go to smash our team’s target. We have had wonderful feedback from the people who took part and everyone keeps asking when the next event will be.
“I’ve been taking part in Relay for Life Pontypool for about three years, but this is the first year that I have captained my own team, Dungeons & Donations.
“My dad was diagnosed with metastatic terminal lung cancer last year so I’m doing all I can to raise as much money as possible to help fund life-saving research for future generations.
“If anyone does want to donate and help us with our fundraising target, they can donate to our team’s JustGiving page here.”
