A woman celebrated her 100th birthday in Cwmbran with a chocolate-themed buffet and Strictly Come Dancing-themed activities.
Barbara Harris, an ex-nurse, lives at Thistle Court Care Home in Ty Canol. Staff and her family organised a special party in the home for her on her special day, Friday 27 March.
The home’s manager, Sarah Butfield, said the celebrations included a purple‑themed party in Barbara’s favourite colour, Strictly Come Dancing‑themed activities, and an all‑day chocolate-themed buffet.
Sarah said Ms Harris loves to “wave her arms in the air during the [Strictly Come Dancing] show whilst admiring their dresses.”
She explained that Barbara loves the show’s sequin dresses and dances, and that she received several Cadbury‑related gifts, including a teddy bear from Cadbury World.
Sarah said: “Barbara opened her birthday card from King Charles with her family and friends; it was a very emotional moment.”
Barbara is an ex-nurse and a very caring, loving lady and who loves a long chat with a nice hot cup of tea, chocolate and pink wafer biscuits.
