Local charities, volunteer groups and community organisations in Torfaen can get top tips on how to apply for financial support from the People’s Postcode Lottery at a free online event this week.

It takes place on Friday 20 February at 10am.

The workshop will offer practical advice on securing grants and outline the opportunities available to grassroots groups when applications reopen in 2026.

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £1.5 billion for good causes across the UK, including over £289,000 for projects in Torfaen.

It’s being co-hosted by Torfaen MP Nick Thomas‑Symonds who said he was “delighted” to support the event and added: “I know there are many charities in my constituency that would greatly benefit from additional funding, and I encourage them to attend the workshop to learn more about the opportunities available to them.”

Nick Cook, head of public affairs at People’s Postcode Lottery, said the session would help smaller organisations understand the application process.

“Our free virtual workshop is a useful opportunity for local charities to find out about the funding available, get advice on applying and ask any questions they may have.”
