Llanyrafon Social Club is opening for a free community Christmas Day dinner for the first time.
Natalie O’Sullivan, club treasurer, said: “This is the first time the club has opened for dinner on Christmas Day. Rhiannon Maving from Flame’z Kitchen in Llanyrafon shops is the one who has kindly donated the meals.
“The reason I’ve done it this year is because Christmas can be lonely. I’ve experienced it first-hand only having two people at the table and wishing to have the big Christmas dinner, so I decided to hold Christmas dinner at the club for anyone else whose table is small and would love to spend Christmas with people.
“The club (the pub) is open from 11 until 1pm, and then dinner is served at 2pm…it’s an extension from my family to anyone else who doesn’t want to spend the day alone or with just a few people.
“Everyone who regularly attends the club has said what a lovely idea it is, and I hope next year it will be even bigger.”
