A new Cwmbran business has ended its first year by winning two awards.

Kilted Dragon Distillery was set up in the summer by local residents Jamie and Marie Boycott.

The couple makes a range of drinks, including rum, gin and vodka. They have a lab in the  Springboard Innovation Centre in Llantarnam and a unit on Springvale Industrial Estate

They won  Start-up of the Year at the Torfaen, Monmouthshire & Blaenau Gwent Business Awards, and the Best Brewery or Distillery at the Best of Welsh Business Awards.

‘Feels incredible’

Marie said: “Ending the year with not just one but two awards feels incredible. It’s a huge validation of the hard work, long hours, and belief that’s gone into building this business from the ground up. Winning Startup Business of the Year shows that our pace and vision is already making an impact and being named Best Distillery/Brewery in Wales was a shock but a real honour – especially given the line-up of finalists.

“It’s a moment that makes us proud, grateful, and even more motivated for what comes next.

“2026 is shaping up to be a milestone year. We’re planning to scale up production, launch new products and partnerships we’ve been quietly perfecting, and strengthening our presence across Wales and beyond. There’s a big focus on collaborations, events, and creating experiences that bring people closer to what we do.

‘Welsh craft drinks’

“And with the new unit fully operational, we’ll be in a strong position to push boundaries, grow sustainably, and keep raising the bar for Welsh craft drinks.

“The new Springvale unit has been a hive of activity. We’ve been investing in expanding production capacity, recruiting, and creating a space that people can create their own spirits as an experience.

“A lot of behind‑the‑scenes work has gone into installing new equipment, and getting larger batches of our spirits ready for the Christmas demand, not just a bigger space – it’s a foundation for the next stage of our journey.”
