One of South Wales’ most gruelling and picturesque races is set to return this autumn, as runners prepare to take on the infamous Twmbarlwm Terror.
Organised by Fairwater Runners, the event will take place on Sunday 2 November, starting and finishing at Risca Leisure Centre in Caerphilly County. The race begins at 10.30am
Covering approximately seven miles and climbing more than 1,000 feet, the course winds through rugged trails and steep ascents to the summit of Twmbarlwm — a landmark known locally for its panoramic views and ancient hillfort.
Organisers say the race offers “an unforgettable experience” for those willing to brave the terrain, with prizes awarded to the first male and female finishers, age category winners, and the best fancy dress.
Entry costs £13 for affiliated runners and £15 for non-affiliated participants. The event is open to all levels of experience, although organisers advise that the course is physically demanding.
Fairwater Runners said the race is “not for the faint-hearted” with runners rewarded with “incredible views and an unforgettable experience.”
