Cwmbran Amateur Boxing Club coach Keith Jefferies celebrated his 90th birthday on Monday 18 August 2025.
The former Welsh and British amateur boxing champion opened the doors to Cwmbran Amateur Boxing Gym in Northville in 1969.
I popped in his gym to see him on Wednesday 13 August 2025. I found him sitting on the floor doing some foam roller exercises due to a little niggle in his knee.
For 55 years, Keith and his fellow coaches have unlocked the doors three or four nights a week. They teach youngsters through to adults the skills of amateur boxing and fitness, respect, confidence, friendship, and discipline.
As we chatted, boxer after boxer quietly arrived and walked past us to get changed and ready for another training session.
