A stunning display of 1918 knitted poppies has been put on the wall of a Cwmbran school.

In 2018 the knitting club at Croesyceiliog School worked with the 2nd Fairwater Guides to mark the centenary of the end of World War One and created 1918 poppies.

The members of the 2nd Fairwater Guides offered their help as part of their Community Action Badge. A social media post from the school said: “In 2018 we pledged to knit 1918 poppies to commemorate the 100th anniversary of WW1. Our whole community came together making well over 2000, the surplus raised £780.94! The 1918 poppies are now up on permanent display in school ❤️🌺.”
