Live life on the wild side this month and enjoy the wonderful, world of Welsh nature right on your doorstep!

Running throughout June, The Wildlife Trust’s 30 Days Wild challenge aims to encourage people to commit Random Acts of Wildness, by simply making daily connections with the nature around them.

And the possibilities are endless – whether it’s listening to birdsong, planting insect-friendly flowers in your garden, visiting a nature reserve or generally taking time to look out for and appreciate the wildlife all around you, wherever you are.

UK-wide more than 47,000 people have pledged to take part so far, including 3,000 schools and 1,000 businesses.

Locally, Gwent Wildlife Trust’s (GWT) regional campaign support has more than doubled so far this year, with 455 people, including 74 schools and 30 businesses, all committing to the 30 Days Wild challenge.

Ian Rappel , Gwent Wildlife Trust’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted with the support for this year’s 30 Days Wild campaign, the numbers are unprecedented and it’s wonderful that so many people, schools and businesses around the region, are enjoying Random Acts of Wildness in their local areas.”

One of the Gwent businesses supporting GWT’s 30 Days Wild campaign is Portskewett-based Creating Media.

Director Michelle Dalley said: We have re-organised our outside space to encourage the team to take lunch outdoors and enjoy the views and birdsong. We have already observed cantering cows and very busy bees on the lavender, while getting some all-important Vitamin D.

“Thanks to Gwent Wildlife Trust for inspiring our business to change our working day.”
