The band Getdown Services took to the stage at Newport’s Le Pub on Friday 6 June 2025 to kick off a European and UK tour to celebrate the release of their newest EP, Primordial Slot Machine.
Childhood pals Josh Law and Ben Sadler quickly sold out the 100-capacity iconic venue, probably helped by the announcement that they would be attending this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The pair walked through the crowd to get to the stage, cheered every step of the way.
They started with the title track of ‘Crisps’, their 2023 album. This instantly got us all moving and dancing to the funky beat that Getdown Services is known for.

The crowd kept the energy up until Josh took centre stage with his heartbreaking song, ‘I Wish It Didn’t Bother Me’, where we had a moment to relax, quietly singing along.
However, the calm atmosphere didn’t last long as the duo immediately picked the pace back up.
They completed their fun-filled set-list with their fan-favourite, ‘Dog Dribble’. The front section of Le Pub turned into a mosh pit, colliding at the start of every chorus.
The gig opened with Josh (or may have been Ben) asking us if we remembered our ‘mobile phone, house keys, and NCP car park ticket.’ This was a little nod to the venue being across the road from the multi-storey car park used by many of the venue’s bands (and gig goers).
The night ended like most Le Pub gigs, with fans being able to chat to the friendly musicians they’d just enjoyed on stage before they headed off to pay for their parking and leave the city.
Getdown Services are a band to watch in the future, and should be on your list of bands to see this year.
