The 999 services are teaming up to hold an open day in Cwmbran on Sunday 3 June where members of the public can learn more about their work through live demonstrations. The action-packed day features firefighters doing a rooftop rescue, paramedics saving lives in a road traffic accident and the police riot officers battling protestors

Behind The Badge will see staff from the police, fire and ambulance service and many partners agencies show how they work together to keep the public safe.

WATCH Sergeant Jason Williams and Leeanne Husselbee explain what you can enjoy on the day.

Click here to read lots of general information about the event. Here are some of the questions and answers.

Is the event free?

It’s a free event being held across two sites, Gwent Police headquarters and Crownbridge School on Sunday 3 June from 9.30am to 5pm. There will be a charge for some of the attractions in the Kids Zone, however, all proceeds from this will be going to All Creatures Great and Small, an animal sanctuary in Cwmbran

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs will not be permitted at the event.  This is because it is being held partly on a school site and also because our working dogs will be forming part of the displays and other dogs could be a distraction

What roads are closed?

The road is being closed from 7am until 7pm for safe access between the two sites.  The closure applies to Turnpike Road, after the entrance to Llanyravon Way therefore still allowing access to Llanyravon Way, up to and including the roundabout at the main entrance to Police Headquarters

Will there be car parking?

Parking is limited to disabled parking only at the site.  There are numerous public car parks within the vicinity of Police Headquarters, which we would encourage you to use, as well as public transport and, as we’ve booked in really good weather 😉 why not walk!  Some of the car parks you can use are located at Llanyrafon Primary School, Llanyrafon Social Club, North Fields Skateboard Park, South Fields, Woodland Road Sports and Social Club, Olive Tree/Goodes Fitness.
