A book written by  Louise Taylor, health board consultant midwife and Emma Mills, lead clinical research midwife, has been awarded the Innovation in Midwifery Prize at the Wales and South West Maternity Festival.

The book ‘Your Birth – Stories from midwifery led areas’ was officially launched on 10 October 2018 at The Riverfront in Newport and has already received great interest from universities across the UK.  All proceeds go directly to the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board’s Maternity Services and will be used to support training and development for midwives.

Louise and Emma said: “When we read the stories in this book it makes us feel emotional, uplifted and enormously proud to be midwives. We hope that it will be an inspiring resource for midwives and students. A reminder that sometimes the little things we do can make such a difference to a woman’s birthing experience.

“If we had sat down to write a book of key messages to promote positive birth we couldn’t have done a better job than the ‘pearls of wisdom’ that naturally emerged from the women’s stories within this book.”

Copies of the book and the kindle version are available now on Amazon, with the second book due in December 2018.
