A CHIROPRACTOR is seeking permission to relocate her clinic to an office block for a second time after a council blocked her plans.
Torfaen council planners said significant new health and public services, as well as commercial, retail and education facilities, must be located in town or city centres when they rejected a change of use application for offices at Lakeside Court in Llantarnam on the outskirts of Cwmbran in July.
Applicant Charlotte Fox, who runs Fox Chiropractic, has now re-submitted her application for change of use planning permission.
In her application she has provided a letter from property consultants Linnells who confirm the current occupants of the first floor intend vacating the building in December while they have only marketed the ground floor of the property Ms Fox intends buying.
Mark Steven, of Linells, stated in the letter there has been little interest in the building and wrote: “We have not received any substantive interest in the property and other than a few tentative enquiries no viewings have been undertaken or offers received.
“I think this is very much reflective of current market conditions with enquiries having fallen since early in 2026.”
Ms Fox has also supplied a copy of a news article stating research has identified Torfaen as among the 10 local authority areas in the UK where businesses are most at risk of shutting down.
When the original application was refused the council said no justification for it to depart from its policy to preserve office space had been provided and the out of town location could encourage use of private vehicles.
