COUNCILLORS had to scatter across Pontypool’s Civic Centre to various offices so their meeting could be recorded.

Members of Torfaen Borough Council’s cabinet were due to attend their regular September meeting in the council chamber which is usually streamed live, on the internet, and recorded for on-demand viewing.

But the scheduled live stream was unable to go ahead on Tuesday morning with an announcement on the council’s dedicated live stream page stating “unforseen circumstances” meant it couldn’t be shown, but a recording would be available.

The recording was later uploaded to the website, and the meeting opened with Labour leader Anthony Hunt explaining councillors, and officers, had all joined via video link to enable the recording to go ahead.

The Panteg councillor confirmed there were “technical problems in the chamber” and said: “We’ve all had to join online from our various offices around the Civic Centre so the meeting can be recorded for people to view.”
