A group of year five and six from Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran have been working hard over the past few weeks with the support of the Night Out Young Promoters scheme, Arts Council of Wales and Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner’s Partnership Fund and Torfaen Council to organise a show in their school today- Thursday 23 November.

They have been learning everything about promoting and organising an event, including how to sell tickets, invitations, front of house signs and posters, publicity work, and a special trip to see backstage at the Riverfront Theatre, Newport.

The performance of Where’s My Igloo Gone? is a show for all the family about a girl called Oolik, who goes on an amazing adventure to save her home from melting. On the way she meets some friends who are excited to help her.

Sam Frankie Fox, actress from the show and former pupil of Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran, said: “What a delight to be visiting my old school to perform ‘Where’s My Igloo Gone’. Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbrân is known for the giant cast iron ‘Three Bears’ mascots that stand in the front playground. In our theatre production we’ll be adding a few more animals into the mix, with our central character Oolik meeting a walrus and a reindeer on her quest to discover why her home is melting. It’s an icy show that warms the heart!”

What day and time is the show? How much are tickets?

Where’s My Igloo Gone? by The Bone Ensemble is today (Thursday 23 November) at 5.30pm. Tickets price: £5 adult £3.50 child and £13 for a family of four. Only a limited number of tickets are available. Contact the school on 01633 483383.
