A Cwmbran man had a nice surprise when the wallet he dropped  in the River Wye arrived in the post two weeks after his unfortunate dip. A man called Rob Spears found the drenched wallet about five miles downstream from where it was lost.

Jac Tunley, aged 21, from Henllys, was enjoying a day in a kayak to celebrate his mate’s 21st birthday when they crashed into the bank and capsized near the Boat Inn in Whitney-on-Wye.

He was lucky enough to grab the floating barrel that contained their valuables but dropped it while opening the lid to check the contents were safe.

His day got worse when his only car key fell into the water along with his wallet with £45 cash, two bank cards and his driving licence.

His parents had to drive to Whitney-on-Wye to put his truck on a trailer to get it home.

Thankfully his run of bad luck came to an end when a padded envelope landed on his doormat with his wallet and a note from Rob Spears, the man who found it in Hay-on-Wye.

The soggy wallet still contained the cash 🙂

Do you know Rob Spears?

The Tunleys would like to track down Rob to thank him for going to the effort of posting the wallet back to Cwmbran. If you are Rob or know who he is send an email to cwmbranlife (AT) gmail.com and I’ll pass them the details.
