A 27-year-old woman who had a leg amputation last year after suffering from tumours for 16 years is fundraising for a lifesaving operation in America. Roxi Cox, who is from Pontnewydd but now lives in Newport, was diagnosed with peripheral arteriovenous malformation when she was a child.

The condition causes tumours to spread between her veins and arteries. The mum-of-two found out a few months ago that the tumours had returned. An appeal has been launched to fund an operation in America.

Staff at Pontnewydd Fish Bar where her mum works organised an 11-hour cycleathon today. Roxi went along to see how it was going. It was a great atmosphere with customer dropping money in the buckets and cars driving around the one-way system tooting their horns and showing their support

VIDEO: Roxi’s dad Ryan Blaney thanks supporters of the appeal

Watch Ryan in this video talk about other events that have been organised including a boxing night.

How do I donate to Roxi Cox’s appeal?
